How monthly cost is calculated

Each scenario adds four blocks. Values are rounded to tens of reais to avoid unsupported precision.

Rent
average price per m² × profile area × area factor
Groceries
local basic basket × household profile weight
Transport
local fare × monthly trips × area factor
Other
standardized household bills and recurring expenses by profile

Model assumptions

  • Central areas use rent 25% above the reference and transport 15% below.
  • Outer areas use rent 25% below the reference and transport 18% above.
  • Home size ranges from 35 m² for one person to 80 m² for a couple with two children.
  • Bills and other expenses are national standardized parameters, not a neighborhood survey.
  • The ±12% range exposes minimum model uncertainty; real cases can fall outside it.

What is data and what is an estimate

Population, food baskets and inflation series come from public or institutional sources. Rent and transport combine indexes, local authorities and market references. The monthly total is an editorial model, not an official statistic.

Update policy

The database is reviewed quarterly and when a relevant source changes a fare or methodology. Sitemap dates change only when content or data actually changes.

Next planned review: outubro de 2026.
